Probably the world's smallest folk festival, and certainly the most
intimate and relaxed. One main stage, home-cooked meals and snacks,
cellar door wines, free camping, beautiful open, spacious &
peaceful landscape miles
from anywhere, yet only 101kms. from Melbourne.
In
about its fifteenth year and determined to stay small, intimate
and friendly, our annual Folk Festival is set around a marquee in
the gardens around the winery and vineyard with nearly 360 degree
distant everchanging views of the stunning landscape around the
Burke & Wills Track between Lancefield and Mia Mia.
Run
by former 'Troubadour' founder Andrew Pattison the event sees around
20 musicians and 200 festival goers enjoy an extremely relaxed weekend
of concerts, sing-a-longs, quizzes, wine, food, talking to the clydesdale,
snoozing under trees, etc.
The
musicians love the easy-going atmosphere of this event, and the
chance to play for the love of it all weekend, rather than being
confined by the rigorous structures of some of the bigger festivals
which have outgrown their grass roots beginnings.

How
to get there:
We've moved!
The festival use to be the Lancefield Winery Folk Festival at Lancefield
Winery, but we've moved recently and become Burke & Wills Winery
so the festival is now Burke & Wills Festival at our new Winery
in a fantastic location just a few kms. further north and bitumen
all the way to our driveway!
Burke
& Wills Winery is 31 kms. NW of
Lancefield via the Burke & Wills track, in Coombes lane(our
driveway), 3155 Burke & Wills Track, Mia Mia. Melway 609 G6,
VicRoads Country Directory 60 B2.
From Melbourne go via the Tullamarine Freeway, Melbourne Airport,
Bulla, Romsey, drive straight through Lancefield continuing north
for 2 kms. and bear left onto Burke & Wills Track (to Baynton
and Mia Mia) just after Mustey's Bridge. From there it is approx.
29 kms. to Coombes Lane, which is 4.5 kms. after Watchbox Road,
and 1.5 kms. after Haires Lane and Buntings Lane. (You will also
pass Knights' Granite Hill Winery a little over half way along the
Track.)
